Eagles GM Howie Roseman addresses Haason Reddick trade decision

The Philadelphia Eagles traded two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Haason Reddick to the New York Jets last month.

In exchange for Reddick, the Eagles received a 2026 third-round pick that could be upgraded to a 2026 second-round if Reddick plays 67 percent of the defensive snaps and logs at least 10 sacks in 2024.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman addressed the decision on Tuesday and told reports that he believed the trade was a "win-win."

“Haason had a great two years in Philadelphia,” Roseman said. “Obviously, he is a Camden kid who played at Temple, and we could not have been more excited to sign him. It’s bittersweet to lose a player and a person like that. ...Through the conversations with the Jets, we felt it was a win-win position, but it’s always hard to get rid of players and people like Haason.”

Reddick, 29, was originally hoping to get a new deal done with the Eagles, but they were not on the same page.

According to several reports, the Eagles weren't looking to pay a soon-to-be 30-year-old edge more than the $16 million that he was expected to make this upcoming season.

With trade talks in the works as early as February, the Eagles found Reddick's replacement at the start of NFL free agency by signing -- ironically enough -- former Jets young sack leader Bryce Huff.

As for Reddick, he's set to replace Huff in New York and step into a starting role alongside veteran edge rushers Jermaine Johnson and John Franklin-Myers.
